Year 4T

Year 4

Mrs Taylor's Class

Welcome to Year 4T!

It has been wonderful having everyone back at school and the children have been absolute superstars settling into our new school routines. For the first few week our main focus will be settling the children back into school life to ensure that they feel; happy, safe and ready to learn.

Please explore our class page as it will be filled with photographs of all the exciting activities that we will be taking part in throughout the year.

Our topic for the Autumn term is all about ‘The Romans’. We will be finding out all about the Roman invasion and life as a Roman soldier.

General Information

Maths and Spellings:

I will be uploading homework each week on the VLE. The children will receive one piece of Maths homework and weekly spellings. Both pieces of work will be uploaded by 4.30pm every Monday and the children will have one week to complete them. Please contact me if you have any further questions.

It is so lovely hear all of the super readers in 4T. We have our own class library that the children have already been diving into. From Monday 21st September, the children are welcome to bring in a book from home to read in school. Their books will only return home when they have finished reading them. Reading Records will also be kept in the classroom.

Those children who are still reading our school scheme books will be issued with a new book on a Monday. This book will then be kept at home and read before being returned on the Thursday as this will then allow 72 hours for it to be quarantined before another new book can be sent home the following Monday.

We are working really hard on our fluency, intonation and inference skills. Please encourage your child to read further books at home. It has been lovely hearing the children talk about their favourite authors and texts. Sharing the books that they have read is inspiring others to explore different books and authors.

Times Tables

Making sure that the children can quickly recall all the times tables facts will really help with their learning in Year 4.  These websites help the children do this, at their own pace and in a fun way. (children can use their school login)

We will have P.E. on a Wednesday  this half term. Our focus will be on Tennis. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E. kit on Wednesday each week. Children should wear their P.E. kit with black pumps or trainers and their school jumper/cardigan over the top.

The children are welcome to bring a snack to school for morning and afternoon break. Please ensure that these snacks are healthy!

Contact Details

If you have updated your phone, or recently moved, please update your contact details at the school office as soon as possible, this assists us greatly to keep our files up to date.

Medical Conditions

A quick reminder -if your child has a medical condition that staff need to know about, please inform school as soon as possible. If your child requires an inhaler, or any other medicine, please make sure it has been returned to school, and is not out of date.

We are really looking forward to an exciting half term in Year 4!
