Year 2P

Welcome to 2P

A very warm welcome to the children and parents of Year 2P.

We have a busy Autumn term ahead in Year 2 with lots of exciting topics planned which I know the children will enjoy. In English we are reading Wanted the Perfect Pet and Pumpkin Soup. In Maths we will be focusing on Place Value and Addition and Subtraction. In Science we will be exploring Animals Including Humans with a focus on life cycles and how to stay healthy. In History we will be learning about Southport in the 1960's as our local history topic. I am excited to be beginning our Art topic on Pop Art and the artist Peter Blake. As part of our Religious Education work we will be exploring the topics of Beginnings and Signs and Symbols.

General Information

Reading

We love reading in Year 2, children will be heard by an adult twice each week in school. Please ensure your child keeps their reading book and reading record in their bags so that they are accessible throughout the week. Two reading books will be sent home each Monday with these being returned the following Monday ready for new ones. Please encourage your child to read with you regularly at home as this really support children's progress.

Homework - Spellings

I will be uploading the weekly spellings each week via Purple Mash by 4.00pm every Monday and the children will have one week to practise these words. The spellings will also be displayed in the classroom window each week. The children will be tested on their spellings the following Monday. The spelling test will be in a mixed order.

Homework - Maths

I will be uploading the Maths task each week via Purple Mash by 4.00pm every Monday.

Children have their own Purple Mash log in details in the front of their reading record.
