Autumn Term Creative Learning

This term, we will be learning about the Celts and Romans. This learning will include Celtic settlements, clothing and the life of Boudicca. We will go on to study the Roman conquest and occupation of Britain. Through D.T. the children will have fun designing and making a Roman treasure box.
Our Dance theme impacts greatly on our Creative learning this term and we are currently creating an improvised dance based on, 'Vesuvius.'

On Wednesday 2nd October, we visited Martin Mere to experience a Celts Living History Activity Day. The day was spent with Celtic villagers and children had the opportunity to prepare and make vegetable stew, forage for edible and medicinal plants, make felt, weave bracelets, bake oatcakes and do weapon training. Enjoy browsing the photographs in our gallery.

At the end of the topic, we will have a themed day in school which will embrace our new learning.

An overview is featured below outlining how the Foundation subjects link creatively when teaching the Celts and Romans this term. The Long Term Plan illustrates subject areas for this academic year.
