Year 1T

smileyHello and Welcome to Year 1T's Homepage.smiley

Summer Term

This term we will begin our new topic- L.S. Lowry. During our topic we will be looking at the art work of L.S. Lowry and using these as starting points for our own work. Within D&T we are going to be using cutting and measuring skills to design and make a photo frame to house our Lowry style paintings and pictures. We will also explore and learn about the life of L.S. Lowry and how life has changed since he was born.

Throughout this topic we will also be completing a local study of our locality and making comparisons between it and L.S. Lowry's home town of Salford/Manchester.

General Information

Reading books

Children will be given 3 reading books at a time. They will be given a specific day of the week and their books will be changed on that day if they have been completed and their reading record signed.

During and after completion of the book, please spend time discussing the setting, characters and key words from the story to further your childs understanding of the text.

Children are asked to bring their books into school on a daily basis as this will enable me to write a comment in their Reading Diary when they have taken part in either Guided or Individual reading.

P.E

Our class P.E lessons will take place on a Thursday and a Friday. This half term we are lucky enough to have a football coach in on a Thursday morning to run a training session with our class. Please ensure your child has their full, named P.E kit in class on these days.

Uniform

Please ensure that all items of uniform are named so that if they are left they can be returned to their correct owners.
Due to the changeable weather please ensure that suitable clothing is brought to school.

Barnaby Bear

Barnaby is our class teddy bear. He is very friendly and enjoys going on adventures. Each weekend Barnaby will go home with a member of our class. Please fill in his diary to tell everyone about his latest adventure.

Walking Pluto

Pluto is our class dog. He is very fun and energetic and needs lots of walks. Each night Pluto will go home with a member of our class. Please fill in his diary to tell everyone where you took him for his walk.
