Olympic Press Conferences - 2012 and 2013
At St Patrick's, we have been very lucky and fortunate to play a very big part in the LONDON 2012 Olympic Games in our local area. Four of our Year 6 children participated in an Olympic Torch Relay with other primary schools in the Christ the King High School Cluster. They travelled on a mini bus and visited St Teresa's Infant School, Holy Family Primary School and Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School. Finally, they arrived at our school where the celebrations conitinued. It was a fantatsic day and a once in a life time opportunity for all the children involved.
Have a look in our "Sports Gallery" to see all the fantastic pictures of our wonderful day of celebration.
As part of the Olympic Celebration, our Bronze School Sports Ambassadors participated in two Olympic Press Confrences and they were given the opportunity to meet two Olympic Athletes and participate in a Press Conference with them.
The children met with Chris Cook who is an Olympic Swimmer and he specialises in Breaststroke. He took GOLD in the 50m and 100m final at the Melbourn Commonwealth Games and he came 6th in the Breaststroke 100m final at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
In November 2013, our Bronze Ambassadors were chosen to visit Stanley High School to meet and greet Natasha Jonas who is the first female boxer to qualify for the Olympics and quarter finals in the LONDON 2012 Games. She spent the morning with the children and enspired the next generation of young ambassadors.
The children were also given the opportunity to work along side Natasha and participate in a question and answer session. It was a once in a life time opportunity for the children and it was a very special day to remember!
The children were fantatsic ambassadors for St. Patrick's Primary School and for that, we are very proud of them!
