One reading book will be sent home on a Monday. It will then be collected in again on a Thursday. These books will then be quarantined for 72 hours. Another reading book will then be sent again the following Monday. Due to the current situation reading records will only be used for home. These can be brought into school on a Monday and a Thursday to communicate any messages or concerns about your child's reading. Children will have a separate book to read with in school. Online books are also available for children to read via Oxford Owl. On here you will find a range of different books. Please read the same colour coded book as the book your child has been sent home with.

Homework and Spellings
Homework and spellings will be set via the VLE. Please check this on a Monday. Spellings will then be tested the following Monday. For this first week we have chosen some games which practise the Year 1 Common Exception Words as we are consolidating these in school. Passwords for the VLE have not changed from Year 1 but if you are unable to access the VLE please let us know.
Please only send a book bag in on a Monday and a Thursday. Thank you.
Mrs Molyneux's Class
Welcome to Year 2M!
It has been a pleasure having the children back in school. They have settled well into Year 2 and are becoming more familiar with the change in routines. Our first few weeks are focussed on ensuring the children are happy, safe and ready to learn. We are looking forward to a busy and happy year.
Our first topic in the Autumn Term is Amazing Africa and we will be exploring the geography of the country and comparing this to England. We will also be completing lots of African influenced pieces of Art.
If you have updated your phone, or recently moved, please update your contact details at the school office as soon as possible, this assists us greatly to keep our files up to date.
A quick reminder -if your child has a medical condition that staff need to know about, please inform school as soon as possible. If your child requires an inhaler, or any other medicine, please make sure it has been returned to school, and is not out of date.
Although we are not currently sending reading books between home and school, the children are still reading in class. Please also encourage your child to read their own books aloud at home focusing on practising their phonics and sight words.
The children can access the phonics play website to practise their phonics work and reading of tricky words.

We will have P.E. on a Monday afternoon this half term. Our focus will be on Throwing and Catching. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E. kit on Monday each week. Children should wear their P.E. kit with black pumps or trainers and their school jumper/cardigan over the top. Assuming the weather is good we will do our PE lessons outside.
The children are welcome to bring a snack to school for morning and afternoon break. Please ensure that these snacks are healthy! The children are provided with fruit for morning break and those who take part in the school snack scheme will also receive a healthy snack in the afternoon. The school snack scheme is £6 for the half term or £1 each week.
We are really looking forward to an exciting term in Year 2.
Mrs Molyneux 😊
