Welcome back, 4G!

I hope you have all had a wonderful break and you are relaxed and refreshed, ready to come back to school. We have plenty of fun things planned for our final term, so I hope you are just as excited as I am!

As you may know, the land of the pharaohs is famous for its huge pyramids, its bandaged mummies and its golden treasures. We will be spending the next few weeks continuing our intriguing topic about the wonders of Ancient Egypt.

Let's make these next few weeks the best!

General Information

Homework

Maths and Spellings:

I will be uploading homework each week on the VLE. The children will receive one piece of Maths homework and weekly spellings. Both pieces of work will be uploaded by 4.30pm every Monday and the children will have one week to complete them. I am are using the VLE in the classroom to help develop the children's confidence and independence.  Please contact me if you have any further questions.

Spellings:

The children will be tested on their spellings the following Monday. The spelling test will be in a mixed order.

Reading:

It is so lovely to see the love for reading in Year 4G. We have some fabulous classroom texts that the children have already been diving into. From Monday 21st September, the children are welcome to bring in a book from home to read in school. Their books will only return home when they have finished reading them. Reading Records will also be kept in the classroom.

We are working really hard on our fluency, intonation and inference skills. Please encourage your child to read further books at home. It has been lovely hearing the children talk about their favourite authors and texts. Sharing the books that they have read is inspiring others to explore different books and authors. As a class, we are continuing our reading of,  'The Boy at the Back of the Class'. Please click on the 'Reading' subject link to find out more.

Times Tables:

Making sure that the children can quickly recall all the times table facts will really help with their learning in Year 4.  The following websites will help the children do this, at their own pace and in a fun way.

www.purplemash.co.uk (children can use their school login)

www.timestables.co.uk

www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

The children will be tested on the times tables every Monday in the Computer Suite and every Friday in their times tables books.

P.E.

This term, our P.E. lessons will be on a Friday afternoon. Please send your child to school in their full P.E. kit. The children must have their school jumper or cardigans, no hoodies, please.

Snack

The children are welcome to bring a snack to school for morning and afternoon breaks. Please ensure that these snacks are healthy!

Medical Conditions

A quick reminder! If your child has a medical condition that staff need to know about, please inform school as soon as possible. If your child requires an inhaler, or any other medicine, please make sure it has been returned to school, and is not out of date.
