Welcome to Year 4G!

It is such a privilege to be spending another year with the children! I know that we are going to have a great time together. The children have settled in brilliantly after having such a long time away from school. Our new school rules will take a little while to get used to, but I am certain that everyone is going to adapt quickly.

I will be updating our class page on a regular basis. Please look out for key information and explore the subject links. I will be filling the page with photographs of all the exciting activities that we will be getting up to in the classroom.

Our topic for the Autumn term is, 'The Romans'.  The children are already asking many questions about life as Roman Solider. Our topic will take us on a historical journey,  exploring Roman invasions,  living conditions, Gods and much more. The children will be capturing their artistic talents through the making of Mosaics and Roman Treasure Boxes.

General Information

Maths and Spellings:

I will be uploading homework each week on the VLE. The children will receive one piece of Maths homework and weekly spellings. Both pieces of work will be uploaded by 4.30pm every Monday and the children will have one week to complete them. I am are using the VLE in the classroom to help develop the children's confidence and independence.  Please contact me if you have any further questions.

It is so lovely to see the love for reading in Year 4G. We have some fabulous classroom texts that the children have already been diving into. From Monday 21st September, the children are welcome to bring in a book from home to read in school. Their books will only return home when they have finished reading them. Reading Records will also be kept in the classroom.

We are working really hard on our fluency, intonation and inference skills. Please encourage your child to read further books at home. It has been lovely hearing the children talk about their favourite authors and texts. Sharing the books that they have read is inspiring others to explore different books and authors. As a class, we are reading 'The Boy at the Back of the Class'. Please click on the 'Reading' subject link to find out more.

Times Tables:

Making sure that the children can quickly recall all the times table facts will really help with their learning in Year 4.  The following websites will help the children do this, at their own pace and in a fun way. (children can use their school login)

We will have P.E. (Tennis) on a Wednesday morning with Neil. Please send your child to school in their full P.E. kit. The children must have their school jumper or cardigans, no hoodies, please.

The children are welcome to bring a snack to school for morning and afternoon breaks. Please ensure that these snacks are healthy!

Medical Conditions

A quick reminder! If your child has a medical condition that staff need to know about, please inform school as soon as possible. If your child requires an inhaler, or any other medicine, please make sure it has been returned to school, and is not out of date.

I am really looking forward to an exciting half term with the Year 4 children.
