We celebrated St Patrick's Day in school today, starting with a Mass this morning with Fr John. Children from Years 2-6 attended Mass and it was a very special occasion for all involved. Children enjoyed a range of activities throughout the day and it was a lovely way to end a busy week.
A great day was had by all today as we celebrated World Book Day. School was filled with children and staff either wearing costumes of their favourite characters or pyjamas with their favourite bedtime stories. Everyone looked amazing!
Children thoroughly enjoyed a range of activities to celebrate the joys of reading and the wonders of a good book.
Children in all year groups were fantastic in our music assemblies on Tuesday morning. Each class performed a song from their most recent unit of work and accompanied these in a variety of ways, including playing recorders and glockenspiels with some beat boxing thrown in too. All the performances were tremendous and it was wonderful to see our young musicians shine. Well done!
Children in Year 3 had an exciting start to the week with a visit from a local artist. Children worked with Mark from Maximum Effort Art and enjoyed creating a range of pieces using different media. A great time was had by all and it was wonderful to see the artwork that children produced.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated items for the refugees and asylum seekers who have recently been placed in Liverpool. It was wonderful to be able to take so many bags of toys, children's shoes, school uniform and nappies to Church on Friday. These will make such a difference to families in enormously challenging circumstances.
Children saw all the items that had been collected in our assemblies on Friday and Fr John displayed some of them in St Patrick's and St Marie's Churches over the weekend.
Many thanks again for supporting these families in need.
Children enjoyed a special afternoon on Friday as they explored different aspects of French culture. Children in all classes participated in a range of activities and had lots of fun.
Our School and Eco-Council have had meetings this week to discuss different things they would like to do over the coming months. The Eco-Councillors have been very busy making bird feeders today to ensure that local birds have enough to eat in this cold, wintry weather. Well done children!
Children thoroughly enjoyed their Christmas parties yesterday. They participated in a range of Christmas activities and played a variety of party games. In the afternoon, children had party food and school was filled with Christmas music and lots of dancing.
Children in Key Stage 1 had a visit from a very special guest who made time in his busy schedule to come and collect their letters and talk about the magic of Christmas Eve. It was great to see children in each class having an afternoon of fun – very well deserved after all their hard work throughout the term.
Over the last few weeks each class has visited Church for an Advent Reflection with Fr John and Linda. Children and staff have enjoyed this special time together, reflecting on the wonderful gift of Jesus at Christmas.
In October, Pope Francis made a request for children around the world to pray for the children in war-torn countries. Following each reflection, our children have decorated little cardboard people with either prayers or key words to share the Advent message of hope and peace. These 'prayer-people' will be displayed in the Churches of St Patrick's and St Marie's over the coming weeks as we pray very specially for those who are living with the turmoil and devastation that war creates.
Children had lots of fun yesterday as they took part in a Santa Dash around the school playgrounds. This was a great way to enjoy some festive fun, whilst keeping fit at the same time. Children wore their Christmas jumpers and just about managed to escape the rain. Well done everyone!
