Welcome to Year 4P
Welcome back to school for the summer term. I hope you have all had a lovely, restful Easter break. This term, our learning in English will focus on Playscripts and Instructions. In Maths, we will complete our topic of Fractions and move onto Decimals shortly. Please try to support your child in learning their times tables as they can draw upon this fundamental knowledge in many areas of Maths.
In History, we will continue our topic of Ancient Greeks and explore their achievements. In Science, we will study Living Things and their Habitats and move to Electricity over the coming weeks. The children have all been simply wonderful so far this year and I look forward to the summer term and the arrival of better weather! Please continue to check our page for regular curriculum updates and photographs.
Communication
Please let the school know if any of your contact details have changed (phone number, email, addresses) if we need to call home or contact you.
Homework
Homework will be sent home every Monday. We will upload spellings, English and Maths every Monday on Purple Mash or the VLE, to be completed by the following Monday. The children will be tested on their spellings on Monday mornings. Please encourage your child to complete their homework every week, as well as reading each night (approximately 20-30mins).
Reading is a key focus for us in school. Each week, the children will take part in reading session based on a focus text. I will upload these texts to the Guided Reading section at the bottom of this page, so you can discuss them further with your child.
Spelling and Times Tables Links
Making sure that the children can quickly recall all the times tables facts and remember previous spelling words will really help their learning in Year 4. These websites help the children do this at their own pace and in a fun way.

PE
This half term, our PE lessons will take place on Tuesday and Thursday. The children should wear their PE kits to school on these days. Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit – branded shorts etc are not part of school uniform. On cooler days, the children may wear jogging bottoms, but they must still wear their school cardigan or jumper – no hoodies.
Uniform
Please ensure that all school uniform is labelled with your child's name. Your child may wear their summer uniform from 15th April 2024.
Medical
A quick reminder -if your child has a medical condition that staff need to know about, please inform the school as soon as possible. If your child requires an inhaler, or any other medicine, please make sure it has been returned to school, and is not out of date.
Snack
As we are a ‘Healthy School’ we would like to remind parents that a healthy snack at playtime is encouraged. Please don’t send any chocolate or sweets into school as a snack.
