Welcome to 2S 😊 with Mrs Bedwell
Welcome back! I hope you have had a lovely half term break.
I am looking forward to continuing to enjoy a fantastic year filled with fun and learning. Year 2 is an exciting year and we have many wonderful, fun opportunities planned! Please find below additional information about our curriculum, along with photos and posts about our learning, which will be regularly updated as the year progresses.
Contact Details
Just a quick reminder to please let us know if your contact details have changed. It is especially important that we have the correct emergency contact details. If your child’s medical needs change throughout the year, please let us know as soon as possible. All medication needs to be signed into and out of school.
Labelling
Although we do our very best to keep organised, it is incredibly helpful if you could please label all jumpers, cardigans, water bottles and lunch boxes with name and class.
P.E.
This term, our P.E. lessons will be on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please send your child to school in their full P.E. kit. The children must also have their school jumper or cardigan, no hoodies please. Please also ensure that earrings are either removed or covered by tape for each lesson.
Snacks
During morning break, free fruit/veg is available for all KS1 pupils. Just as in Year 1, children are still able to bring their own healthy snack for afternoon break time, or they can have snack provided by school for just £1 per week or £6 per half term. Please also send your child with a water bottle each day so they have plenty to drink.
Homework and Books
Homework will be given on a Monday and is expected to be returned the following Monday, starting on 18th September. Spellings and Maths homework will be posted on Purple Mash each Monday afternoon. If you are having any difficulties in accessing this, please just let us know. Children will be given a short spelling test each Monday on the spellings they have had that week. Books will be changed each Monday and children will be heard to read in school on different days so please make sure your child’s book bag, reading record and school books are in school every day. It is incredibly helpful to hear your child read at home as often as possible. This make a huge difference with their reading progress as we aim to foster a love of reading.
Thank you for your continued support. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions or concerns.
