Year 3P

Welcome to 3P

Welcome to Year 3! I can’t wait to share this journey with the class. We have a busy term ahead with lots of exciting topics planned which I know the children will enjoy. Our History focus for Autumn 1 is Stone Age to Iron Age and in English we are reading The Stone Age Boy. In Maths we will be focusing on Place Value and Number.

General Information

Reading

We love reading in Year 3. Each Friday we will be having a Book Club in class where children can share their favourite books and encourage their love for reading. Please ensure your child keeps their reading book and reading record in their bags so that they are accessible throughout the week. In the classroom, we will be reading each week to our friends and teachers.

Homework - Reading

We encourage all children to read for 20 minutes each night. This can be independently or to an adult. Our current focus this term is fluency and expression.

Homework - Spellings

I will be uploading the weekly spellings each week via Purple Mash by 4.00pm every Monday and the children will have one week to practise these words. The spellings will also be displayed in the classroom window each week. The children will be tested on their spellings the following Monday. The spelling test will be in a mixed order.

Homework - Times Tables

Making sure that the children can quickly recall their times table facts will really help with their learning in Years 3 and 4. Each week we will have a focus times table that we will work on in class on a daily basis. The focus times table will also be displayed in the classroom window the Friday before so you can practise at home. Children will then be tested on this times table the following Friday.

The following websites will help the children do this, at their own pace, and in a fun way.
