Year 3G

Welcome to Year 3G!

smileyHello and a very BIG welcome to Year 3G's homepagesmiley

Hello and welcome to the Summer Term, I hope you have had a Happy Easter and a well deserved rest. This term, the children will be participating in swimming lessons as part of the P.E Curriculum at Tarleton High School Swimming Baths.

The children will be asked to bring a swimming kit which includes; a swimming costume or swimming trunks (no baggy shorts), swimming hat, towel and goggles if required.

Lessons will start on Thursday 23rd April 2015 until Half Term, so please ensure your child has their kit in school.

This Summer Term, we will continue learning all about Our Locality and coastlines and comparing it to cities within England.

During our topic, we will explore the beginnings of Southport and we will create a wonderful variety of architectural drawings and collages based on the Sea Theme.

The children will also learn about LONDON 2012 Olympic Games and they will make links to their current Science topic of ‘Healthy Me’ and design and create their own ‘Smoothie’ as part of our D&T topic. This also allows us to get into the sporting and competitive mind set with our upcoming Sports Day and National Sports Week.

Our Class Assembly

On Wednesday 28th January, the children took part in our class assembly. In our Come and See lessons, we have been learning about the different types of journeys people go on and the Liturgical Year of the Church.

The children were fantastic and I was delighted with their commitment to learning their lines, actions and sign language.

Due to technical difficulties, there was a special part in our assembly that we were unable to share with you but we are delighted to invite you to the premier of our short film about what journeys mean to us. We hope you enjoy it frown

Spring Term 2

Hello and welcome back to school after a lovely half term break.

During Spring Term 2, we will be learning all about our locality and coastlines and comparing it London. Throughout our topic we will explore the beginnings of Southport as well as exploring the coastline of Southport. We will create a wonderful variety of architectural drawings as well as collages based on the Sea Theme.

The children will also learn about the London 2012 Olympic Games and they will make links to their current Science topic of ‘Healthy Me’ and design and create their own ‘Sandwich’ as part of our D&T topic.

We are also very fortunate as during this half term, we will be participating in gymnastics sessions which will be delivered by a fully qualified gymnastic coach called Ricky Brooks. This is a fantastic opportunity for all the children and I would be grateful if you could please could you ensure that the children have their full PE kit in school to allow them to participate in the lessons.

We will also be very busy with practising our rehearsals for our Easter Production 'Born for This'. The children will be given lines to learn and song to sing for the performance.

Keep checking our class page for up to date pictures of all our exciting activities.

General Information

Reading books

Children will be given an opportunity to change their reading books once they have completed their book and it has been signed. The children will place their books in the basket provided and their book will be changed on the same day (when possible).

During and after completion of the book, please spend time discussing the plot, characters, layout, new knowledge gained etc., as analysis of the text becomes increasingly important in the Juniors. I do ask that the children bring their books into school on a daily basis as this will enable me to write a comment in their Reading Diary when they have read in a small group or individually to me or another adult.

Homework

All homework will be given on Monday night and will be collected in on the Friday of the same week. This will allow your child to have a well earned rest over the weekend

All homework should be done neatly and in pencil. Help may be given, but your child must record the work themselves. If you have supported your child with their homework, I would appreciate it if you could star * each question you have helped them with.

A homework page will be provided on our class web page and the homework will be placed in the folder on the Monday for the children to complete. The children will be able to access the homework and this can be completed in their homework books. The worksheet does not need to be printed out unless you wish to do so.

P.E

P.E lessons will take place on Monday and Thursday. Your child is required to have their full P.E kit in class during term time and they will be sent home during half term for washing. Please can you ensure that all clothing is clearly labelled.

Many thanks for your co-operation. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
