General Information

Children are asked to have their reading diary in school each day as this will enable me to provide a comment to inform parents when children have taken part in Guided Reading sessions. Reading diaries are also to be used by the children to record what they have read and for parents/carers to provide feedback, or make comments, on the reading they have done with their child as they wish .

Snacks

Children are invited to bring their own snacks to be eaten during morning or afternoon break times.  Snacks should be a healthy food choice such as fruit or a cereal bar.  Chocolate bars and crisps are not considered to be healthy snacks.

Homework
English and Maths homework will be set each Friday and should be completed and returned by the following Friday.  Any homework set will reinforce learning which has taken place during the week. The children will also be regularly tested on spellings and times table facts.

P.E.
P.E. sessions take place each Tuesday and Thursday, although this may be subject to changes throughout the school year. Please ensure a full P.E. kit is brought to school and that items are clearly labelled.
It would be useful to have a tracksuit or suitable outdoor wear, stored in class, for P.E sessions that take place outside during the winter months.

We will begin swimming lessons on Wednesday 27th November, with the last session on Wednesday 29th January.  Children will need to ensure they bring a swimming costume, swimming hat, towel and goggles.

 Music

This year the children will be taking part in 'brass' lessons. Each Friday the children will be provided with the opportunity to learn to play an instrument taught by Mr. Fogg. We will be in touch shortly with further details regarding this. The children will be working towards a concert to be held in the Summer term to showcase their new music skills.

School & Eco Councillor Elections

I am very proud of all the children who put themselves forward to represent the class as a potential Eco and School Councillor. The individual presentations were excellent and the results were close.

Congratulations to Anna and Sofia who were voted by the class to be our Eco Councillors and to Amirah and Millie who will represent Year 5Forden on the School Council.
