Faithfully following in the footsteps of Jesus, we serve, love and learn together, inspiring each other to excellence

    Welcome to 6S!

Welcome to an exciting and very special year ahead! Year 6 is a hugely important year for our children as they take on new challenges, embrace exciting opportunities and continue to grow in confidence, independence and maturity.

It is also a very important year as it marks their final year of primary school. We want to make it a year to remember – one filled with happy memories, new experiences, laughter, learning and plenty of opportunities to celebrate just how far they have come.

There will be challenges along the way, but we know our Year 6 pupils are ready to rise to them. We are incredibly proud of them already and look forward to seeing them flourish, make memories and prepare for the exciting next chapter of their journey.

Here's to a fantastic final year of primary school – let the adventure begin!

Please feel free to e-mail should you have any questions or you wish to share some news about your child.

    News

Don't forget to read the fortnightly newsletters for regular school updates.

    Medical Condition

If your child has a medical condition that staff need to know about, please inform school as soon as possible. If your child requires an inhaler, or any other medicine, please make sure it is brought into school via the school office so that the administration forms can be filled in.

    Reading

Children in Year 6 should now be reading longer chapter books and therefore don’t have a set day for them to be changed. They are free to choose books from home or school and can change them whenever they have finished them. We ask that children read at least three times a week at home. This helps the children enormously to develop their reading and writing skills.

Reading is important at St Patrick's, and we aim to foster a love of reading by giving the children opportunities to listen to and share a wide range of books and stories.

    Jumpers, cardigans and water bottles

Please remember to clearly label all jumpers and cardigans and ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day.

    Snack

Children can bring in a healthy snack for playtime including items such as fruit, crackers and cereal bars.

    Homework

Children will have weekly homework set on Purplemash and will consist of spellings and maths. Children are also expected to read at least 3 times a week at home.

    P.E.

Please check the class window for details of our PE days for this half term. Children should continue to come into school wearing their PE clothes with a jumper or cardigan. We begin Autumn term with swimming so children need to ensure they have all of the appropriate equipment needed.
