A very warm welcome to the children and parents of Year 5P

We have a busy and exciting Autumn term ahead of us in Year 5 with lots of exciting topics planned which I know the children will enjoy. In English we are looking at the fantastic author Michael Morpurgo and beginning with the story, This Morning I Met a Whale. In Maths we will be focusing on number and place value, addition and subtraction, statistics, multiplication and division and perimeter and area.  In Science we will be exploring properties and changing of materials. In History we will be learning about the Anglo Saxons. I am excited to be beginning our Art topic looking at the artist David Hockney.

    General Information

    Reading

We love reading in Year 5. Children will participate in guided reading weekly and we will also enjoy a number of class novels.

Please ensure your child reads regularly at home and records it in their reading record.

    Homework - Spellings

I will be uploading the weekly spellings each week via Purple Mash by 4.00pm every Monday and the children will have one week to practise these words. The spellings will also be displayed in the classroom window each week. The children will be tested on their spellings the following Monday. The spelling test will be in a mixed order.

    Homework - Maths

I will be uploading the Maths task each week via Purple Mash by 4.00pm every Monday.

Children have their own Purple Mash log in details in the front of their reading record.
